TJHSST VERBAL TEST
Scrambled Paragraph -is a set of sentences that need to be sequenced to form a cohesive paragraph; we
teach for strategies to order and connect the sentences properly.
Logical Reasoning - is a word puzzle game that sometimes involves mathematical skills; we
teach for various types of logical reasoning questions and the strategies for each one.
Reading Comprehension -is a multiple choice format based on passages; we teach for how
to detect text structures, types of questions and the strategies that
go with each one.
Test taking and pacing - how to read fast and understand the problem well; how to self-pace during the test. Parents noticed an overall improvement of academic grades including english, science, math and social studies.
TJHSST ESSAYS
Persuasive - we teach for strategies on how to form ideas, organize, develop
and edit a persuasive essay; different techniques on persuasion; six traits of writing; how to write a persuasive essay in 30 minutes.
Reflective - we teach for strategies on how to reflect and form, organize and develop ideas on one's
own experiences in a narrative format; students analyze varied reflective essays.
Expository - we teach for strategies how to brainstorm ideas and sub ideas, form a coherent paragraph and add vice and style to their writing.
TJHSST MATH TEST
Arithmetic - review of 6th grade to 8th grade math; if the child is advanced, we challenge them
Algebra - we cover the whole algebra concepts from the 1t quarter to the 4th quarter
Geometry - we cover the basic geometry problems that usually appear on the TJHSST test.
Word Problems, short cut and mental strategies, math test taking skills and self-pacing are also taught.
